Kayakers and canoeists love the River Dart. It’s one of the best places to kayak and canoe in the UK.
We’re fortunate to be a short drive from the river which is why a number of kayaking and canoeing groups choose to stay at The Cottages at Blackadon Farm.
The main season runs from the end of October to March. Whilst many visitors look forward to sunny days when they visit, you can see how happy kayakers and canoeists are when it’s been raining all night.
Water flows from the hills of Dartmoor down to Totnes. Many groups leave their cars in places like Dartmeet and take to the white waters.
There’s suitable paddling for all levels. The lower level is popular with novices and graded level two. There is a loop between Newbridge and Holne Bridge for intermediates, graded two to three. The upper level is the most challenging and graded three to four plus.
Paddlers tend to spend anytime between a long weekend and week on the water. If you fancy a change of scenery, there are also options to paddle on the rivers Erme and Teign from here. If you want a day off, you can relax on site, walk onto Dartmoor or visit a local beach.
So you can keep your cottages clean and dry, we have a fully equipped drying room for your wet suits and accessories. If you prefer not to keep your vessel on the roof of your car, we have a barn onsite that can be used for storage.
Our paddling guests come from far and wide to enjoy the water. Regulars include groups from London, Ipswich as well as the Open Canoe Association.
Why not bring your group to experience these amazing waters? We have accommodation options ranging from two people through to 44.
