Can you believe that 2020 marks the 400th anniversary of English explorers leaving the port city of Plymouth in Devon to discover America? Back then it was known as the New World. It was a journey of discovery for colonists who met Native Americans. They had been living there for hundreds of years.
Just over 100 passengers and around 30 crew members were on board the Mayflower when it docked in Massachusetts. Today, over 30 million people have traced their ancestry to those sailors.
