When did you last get together with a large group of family and friends? I reckon it’s been too long. We love playing host to reunions, birthday celebrations, anniversaries, commemorations and weddings celebrations.
The Cottages at Blackadon Farm is a pretty special place for groups.
We’re in an unbeatable location in South Devon – only two miles from the A38 and on Dartmoor National Park. The Great Barn, our 10 bedroom property, sleeping up to 24 has 10 ensuites. There’s an option to add a three bedroom property, sleeping up to six called The Loft which has an internal connection and three more bathrooms. This number of bedrooms with bathrooms is pretty rare in the UK! Our other one, two and three bedroom cottages are sometimes taken by groups and have plentiful high-end facilities.
The Great Barn has the largest self-catering accommodation dining area in the area. There is plenty of space for everyone in a large group to eat together. If you prefer to split into smaller numbers, The Great Barn has a second lounge and dining area. The other cottages all have new kitchens, lounges and dining areas equipped with everything you need.
Meet our group accommodation guest ambassadors
Meet Steve Heywood and his family. Here’s what they have to say about The Cottages at Blackadon Farm.
The excitement for the annual trip to Blackadon tends to start in mid-January when the thought of early summer in Devon is at it’s most appealing. We and our extended family have been making the annual pilgrimage for 10 years; for us it’s a return home to the South Hams and over the past 4 years we have been joined by The Joneses, family friends from Cheshire who get as excited as us!
Blackadon is perfect for our stay, we first visited 10 years ago with 22 of us in The Great Barn to say farewell to our mum and have since used most of the cottages; they combine beautifully spec’d accommodation with a lack of fussiness which makes for a lovely chilled time. At the end of a day, Freya, Josh, Fi and Louis (the dog) love roaming and exploring whilst the adults plan the following day over a drink.
The best bits for a perfect stay
Dartmoor: Dartmeet and Cadover. Flatter parts of the moor with lots of water to enjoy.
Beach:. Mothecombe and Bantham. Big beaches when the tide is out. Rockpooling, surfing and sunbathing are options here.
Dining: An Ivor Dewdney pasty on Plymouth Hoe. For a post beach pint and food, we love The Avon Inn at Avonwick and further afield, the wonderful River Exe Cafe at Exmouth (book months in advance for this one). Our fave is Britannia on the Beach (The Shack) at Beesands, where we had our wedding reception.
Activities: Trips to Dartmouth and Totnes.
Anything else: Marcus and Ryan have taken what was already lovely accommodation in the perfect location and created a truly fantastic place for all generations to enjoy.
Do you like what Steve has to say about us? We hope so. Our group accommodation books out well in advance, so please get in touch as soon as you start thinking about getting friends and family together.
