Does size matter? It does if you’re looking for a big holiday house that provides stylish accommodation for a group.
The Cottages at Blackadon Farm has a cottage called The Great Barn. It accommodates up to 25 people, over 10 ensuite bedrooms. If you have more people in your group, there’s an interconnecting door to The Loft. This provides three more bedrooms and bathrooms for another six people. In total you can have 31 people staying together. We can take it up to 44 if you include some of our smaller cottages.
The upstairs dining area comfortably seats 31 people around dining tables that are over three metres long. There’s an extra dining table in the kitchen that can be used to add more dining space – that’s suitable if your family and friends are staying in one of our smaller cottages for two, four or six people.
We totally understand that you don’t want to spend hours washing up if you’re part of a large group. That’s why the main kitchen has two large dishwashers with rapid washes that take less than 20 minutes to complete. The kitchen has a large catering oven and spacious American style fridge freezer. There are extra kitchens in the lower level of The Great Barn and The Loft which also have dishwashers, cookers, fridge freezers and microwaves. The lower level of The Great Barn and The Loft have additional lounges and dining areas.
If you don’t fancy cooking throughout your stay, or perhaps want a night off, our friends at Dartmoor Larder can deliver food. They can even prepare it onsite and leave the kitchen as they found it.
The bedrooms are spacious, have beds used by five star hotel groups, hypoallergenic bedding and ensuites with super showers. The upper level of The Great Barn is fully accessible. It also has a king size bedroom that is perfect for guests needing wheelchair access and an accessible bathroom.
The space is unusually flexible. It’s regularly used for retreats, training programmes, weddings, kayaking groups, cycling groups, family gatherings, special occasions and wedding groups.
Local restaurants and pubs are happy to reserve space for our guests. The closest is an independent called The Horse & Groom,The Ship Inn is a few miles away and Wrangaton Golf Club will let groups of over 15 use their conservatory. Takeaways deliver. There is plenty to keep groups of all ages entertained – rum tastings in the cottage, gin school visits (or bring the UK’s only mobile distillery to you) and private alpaca tours.
Accommodation that’s this large, flexible and stylish is rare. It’s also very reasonably priced on a per person basis. Contact us to find out more and understand why so many groups keep coming back to us, time after time.
